Engoo 2024 in Review
2024 is now in the history books. It’s nice to look back on what was accomplished in the previous year before we take steps into the next one. So here’s a brief review of 2024 at Engoo.
New Lesson Page Features
2024 brought several exciting additions to the Lesson Page. In June, we announced the release of the screen sharing feature. This made it possible for tutors and students to simultaneously view the same materials, leading to a smoother lesson experience for everyone.
Another addition was tabs, which allow users to open multiple windows and switch between them quickly and easily. These can be used to incorporate the whiteboard, videos and other reference material into a lesson with ease.
We also implemented a big change when we made lesson notes optional. Unlike the past, when they were a necessary part of the complete lesson process, students must now request them if desired. This has no doubt resulted in lots of time saved for tutors!
AI Innovations
2024 was another big year for developments in artificial intelligence. At Engoo, we've used the technology to offer our students new ways to study. This includes roleplay lessons we encourage learners to use in preparation for meeting with real tutors.
Additionally, AI powers the narration of our Daily News lessons for students who study them on their own before and after one-on-one lessons.
New Materials
Over the past 12 months, several notable additions were made to our selection of materials.
In July, we introduced 150 new lessons to the Conversation category for Levels 4 through 6. These lessons cover a wide range of topics and help to introduce students to practical vocabulary and how it is used in the real world.
Also in the summer, we debuted new materials focusing on preparation for the EIKEN test, an examination that is especially significant for students in Japan.
The English for Young Learners category got two big updates as well. First, we introduced a new course for lower-intermediate students entitled 'Emily & Grandpa Gus Travel the World.' And for the younger ones just starting out, December saw the release of our newest series featuring two more original characters, Alex and Maya.
Campaigns and Contests
In June, we launched a campaign to celebrate the release of the 10,000th Daily News lesson. With its smashing success, we were able to donate enough money to sponsor the construction of five classrooms in rural areas of the Philippines.
And as we have in the past, we also got into the Halloween spirit. This year, we celebrated with a raffle and awarded prizes to tutors who decked themselves (and sometimes their workspaces) out in season-appropriate costumes.
Wrap-Up
From expanding the Lesson Page features to giving back to the country where we got our start, we accomplished quite a bit in 2024.
As we move into the new year, we'd like to thank all of our tutors for their contributions and creativity that make Engoo a great place for students to learn. Let's see how much farther we can go together in 2025!
