Instead, it acts as a way to fill the silence when the speaker doesn't know exactly what to say.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"unified-block unified-sentences block-align-none\"><strong class=\"unified-sentences-title\">So, like, what are we gonna do today?<\/strong><\/div>\n\n\n<p>This style of speech is closely associated with \"Valley girls,\" young women who typically live in parts of Southern California.
